His paternal grandparents are Walter Sir Chevers and Eleanor St. Lawrence; his maternal grandfather was Thomas (Sir) (of Rathmore) Plunkett and his maternal grandmother is Marian Cruise Cruce. He has four sisters named Janet, Margaret, Elenor and Ella. He had five half-brothers and two half-sisters, named John, Patrick, Thomas, Walter, Robert, Katherine and Katherine.-
