Madog ap was born about 1050.  Madog ap's father was Bleddyn ap Cynfyn Prince of Deheubarth and his mother is Haer verch Cillin.  His paternal grandparents are Cynfyn Brenin Ap Gwerystan and Angharad Verch Maredudd; his maternal grandfather was Cillin ap Blaidd and his maternal grandmother is <Unnamed>. He had four brothers and a sister, named Iowerth ap, Maredudd ap, Phiryd ap, Cadwgan ap and Gwenllian verch.  He was the third youngest of the six children.  He died about 1088.
