John (Parson Jack) was born on January 22nd, 1772 in Buckingham, Virginia.  John (Parson Jack)'s father was Nathan Ayres Col. and his mother was Mary Christian Leake.  His paternal grandparents were Matthias Ayres and Elizabeth Hales; his maternal grandparents were Walter Leake , Jr. and Judith Mask. He had five brothers and five sisters, named Samuel, Nathan, Walter Leake, Matthias, Peter Leake, Judith, Elizabeth (Betsy) Hales, Mary Agnes (Polly), Jane (Jean) and Martha (Patsy).  He was the second oldest of the eleven children.  He died in Buckingham, Virginia.1 


John (Parson Jack)'s first family with Elizabeth Bransford

‌John (Parson Jack) and Elizabeth were married in a religious ceremony on August 15th, 1793.1   They had five sons and five daughters, named John Bransford, Nathan "W", Samuel, Owen Million, Matthias Leake, Judith Leake, Mary Hales, Martha, Elizabeth F. and Elijah.
