Sever Henry Bjorlie 
Sever Henry was born on November 5th, 1854 in Bjorlivollen Bjorlie, Lesjaskogen, Gudbransdalen, Norway. Sever Henry's father was Henrik Olson Bjorlivollen Bjorlie and his mother was Ronnaug Syversdatter Oppistugu Kvam. His paternal grandparents were Ola Henrikson Bjorlivollen Bjorlie and Guro Larsdatter Nordistugu Einbu; his maternal grandparents were Syver Henrikson Oppistugu Kvam and Eli Syversdatter Systugu Einbu. He had two brothers and a sister, named Ole Henrikson, Lars Henrikson Bjorlivollen and Guro Henriksdatter. He was the second youngest of the four children. He had two half-sisters named Anna Henrietta Henriksdatter Kvam and Eli Henriksdatter Kvam. He died at the age of 76 on June 28th, 1931 in Nelson County, North Dakota. Enstad, Pekin, ND: "On May 14th, 1881, Toger Brekken and son, Rolf, Ole
Bjorlie and family, S.H.Bjorlie, Borre Langseth and family, Knut Enstad,
Ole Fagstad and I loaded our belongings, consisting of a few yokes of
oxen, a team of horses, some cattle and what machinery we had, into a box
car at Albert Lea, Minn. Our destination was Dakota Territory, where we
hoped to find a place to settle down and build a home of our own. We
shipped on the Minneapolis & St. Louis Railroad out of Albert Lea and
transferred at Minneapolis, on the St. Paul, Minneapolis & Manitoba
Railroad. We arrived at Grand Forks, Dakota Territory, on May 16, and
unloaded there; while there we celebrated the 17th of May. We stayed at
the Normanna Hotel. We shipped to Grand Forks because we had heard that
there was a mail route from there to Fort Totten and we wanted to follow
that trail west. On the 18th, we started out with two immigrant wagons.
Ole Bjorlie drove a team of horses and I drove a yoke of oxen. We were
told before we left Grand Forks that the raods going west were impassible
on account of the heavy rains, so we were advised to go south to Fisher's
Landing, or Frog Point, so we did and from there crossed over to Buxton.
The roads were very wet and muddy all the way as there was an
exceptionally large amount of rain that spring...arrived at Mayville on
May 21st. We stayed in Mayville that night...The next day we started
moving westward towards the Sheyenne river and at noon on the 23rd, we
arrived at Kolbjorn Livedal, a cousin of Mrs. Ole Bjorlie. We stayed
there until the next morning...We started out early in the morning...and
arrived that evening...Early the next morning (Sunday morning) we started
to move to the northwest, along the Sheyenne river...That evening we got
as far as one mile north of what is now the Sheyenne church. This was on
the edge of the river bluffs...We camped there that night. The next
morning we started moving along the river again and when we got up a few
miles, located the Sibley trail going to Fort Totten. We went as far west
as Jerusalem and came back on the north side of Stump Lake...That night
we camped on the spot where the famous Wamduska Hotel was later built.
The next morning...the rest of us went south and at noon we came to the
river again...We carried a map that showed the lakes and the Sibley
Trail...The next morning we started to move down along the river again,
always looking for a place where we could settle and make a home...we
liked the country pretty well. The Bjorlies had squatted on some land
further down the river."

"SIVER H. BJORLIE CALLED TO FINAL REST- Sever H. Bjorlie was born in
Lesja Skogen, Gudbransdalen, Norway, November 8, 1854. He came to Albert
Lea, Minn., in 1872. For two years he was a student at the Augsburg
Theological Seminary, preparing for the ministry, but lack of funds
compelled him to discontinue his studies. In June, 1881, he came to the
Sheyenne Valley and filed on land in Nesheim township. Later he returned
to Albert Lea and was married in 1882 in Silver Lake Church, Silver Lake,
Iowa, to Miss Karen Oien Johnson of Lake Hanska, Minn. He moved with his
bride to his farm that spring. Seven children were born to them, Regina,
John, Henrietta, Olaf, Gilbert, Arthur and Sidney. They also had a
foster daughter, Ragna. In 1903 he moved with his family to his brother
Ole's, preemption which he had purchased. In 1914 he moved to Pekin as a
retired farmer and lived their until his death, Jun 28th, 1931.
Surviving are his wife, daughter, Regina; and sons, Olaf, Pekin, N. D.,
John, Oak Park, Ill; Gilbert and Arthur, Los A
