Joel C. was born about 1821 in Tennessee. Joel C.'s father was Archibald (Archer) L. Cheatham and his mother is Mary Unknown. His paternal grandparents were Joel Sr. Cheatham and Rhoda League. He had four brothers named William A., George Washington, Francis Marion and Edmond C.. He was the oldest of the five children. He died about 1872.
They had two sons and six daughters, named James Washington, Francis Marion Sr., A. Josephine, Catherine, Isabel, Nancy, Emily and Margaret (Maggie) L..

Francis Marion Sr. was born on May 28th, 1867 in near Jonesville, TX. He died at the age of 83 on May 26th, 1951. He was buried in Wallace Chapel Cemetery, 5 miles west of Lufkin, TX.
