‌James Herbert and Sarah Amanda were married in a religious ceremony on August 3rd, 1853 in Iredell Co, NC.¹   They had three sons and eight daughters, named Joseph Allen, James Edward, Robert Ernest, Caroline (Callie), Lula May, Frances Davidson, Mary Annie Elisabeth, Martha Emma, Sarah Esmond, Valentina (Vallie) and Margaret Ellen.
