Van Daniel York 
Van Daniel was born on January 29th, 1852 in Alabama.1 Van Daniel's father was John Harmon York and his mother was Lucinda Davis. His paternal grandparents are John York and Rebecca Howell; his maternal grandparents were Harmon Davis and Nancy Posey. He had three brothers and two sisters, named John Harmon, Jr., Ezekial, William Franklin, Mary Ann Rebecca and Nancy I.. He was the third youngest of the six children.
