Van Cleveland was born on October 29th, 1892 in Kentucky.1 Van Cleveland's father was Samuel S., Rev. Underwood and his mother was Rachel Bell Judd. His paternal grandfather was Abraham Hiram Underwood and his paternal grandmother is Mary Roark. He had a brother and two sisters, named Alfa D., Bessie E. and Lona B.. He was the oldest of the four children. He had two half-brothers and three half-sisters, named John Lewis, Willis H., Malinda Jane, Mary J. and Catherine Elizabeth. He died at the age of 77 on January 11th, 1970 in HardinCo., Kentucky. He was buried in Otter Creek Cemetery, Taylor Co. Kentucky.1 1 General Notes
