Her paternal grandparents were William Owen Tutor and Lucinda Senter; her maternal grandparents are William Betts and Lucy Savage. She had six brothers and two sisters, named John Owen, Allen Henderson, James Hendon, Henwell L., Hartwell Betts, William Henry, Temperance and Martha Ann.
