Mamie Ethel was born on October 20th, 1897 in Wallis, Austin Co., Texas.1 Mamie Ethel's father was Leon Ernest Tubbs and her mother was Nancy Cornelia Johnston. Her paternal grandparents are William Tubbs and Caroline Bluff; her maternal grandparents were James Woodall Johnston and Sarah Sophia Harry. She had eleven brothers and three sisters, named George Thomas, Albert Jennings, Homer Henry, Omer, Leon Ollie, Lee Ernest, Walter Edward, Arthur Chester, Alfred, Clyde Erwin, James William, Thelma Elizabeth, Hazel and Beulah May. She was the third oldest of the fifteen children. She died at the age of 51 on November 20th, 1948 in Amarillo , Potter Co., Texas.1 General Notes
