William Bradbury Smalley 
William Bradbury was born on May 17th, 1818.1 William Bradbury's father is Isaac Smalley and his mother is Betsey Bradbury. His paternal grandparents are James Smalley and Hannah Delano. He had two brothers and seven sisters, named William, Isaac H., Mary, Susan H., Eliza B., Hannah D., Eunice C., Mary Susan and Adeline Irish. He died at the age of 59 on April 7th, 1878.1 General Notes

When he was 12 his family lived in Ossipee , New Hampshire. He entered E
ff ingham Academy. form there he went to Phillips Academy, Exeter, lat
er he e ntered the Law office of Bell and Tuck. In 1846 he was admitt
ed to the ba r, and opened an ;office in Newmarket, New Hampshire. He w
as a lawyer f or 20 years. He was chosen State Senator from the First Dist
rict, in 187 0; while holding that office he was nominated from the same D
istrict for t he Forty-ThirdCongress , to which he was elected in 1873. T
he Hon. Willi am B. Small was , for twenty-three years a director of the N
eewmarket Nati onal Bank, and, at the time of his death , its Presiden
t. He was appoint ed County Solicitor, at a later period, he was reappoint
ed by ExGovernor C heney, and retained that office as long as he lived. Da
rtmouth College con ferred upon him the honorary degree of Master of Arts.
