Robert Lee Skaggs 
Robert Lee was born on September 26th, 1870 in Hodgenville, Larue Co., Kentucky.1 Robert Lee's father was James Allen Skaggs and his mother was Synthe Ann Warren. His paternal grandparents were Stephen Skaggs and Elizabeth Elkin; his maternal grandfather is Paschal C. Warren and his maternal grandmother was Letitia Skaggs. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Edward Wiley, William Thomas, James Franklin, Charles, Laura and Ella Florence. He died at the age of 77 on January 14th, 1948 in Rockford, Winnebago Co., Illinois. He was buried in Oakford Cemetery , Oakford, Menard Co., Illinois.1 1 General Notes

Mason City, Jan. 15--Robert Lee Skaggs, 77, former resident of Mason C
it y, died Wednesday at the Swedish-American hospital in Rockford. The bo
dy w ill arrive in Mason City at 4 p.m. Friday and will be taken to the He
nders on-Jennings funeral home where friends may call. Funeral servic
es wi ll be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, Rev. Ross K. Hell
ye r, of the Christian church, officiating. Burial will be in Mason City c
eme tery. A native of Hodgenville, Ky., Mr. Skaggs was born Sept. 26, 1
87 0, a son of James and Cynthia Skaggs. In 1892 he married Mary Belle A
ki ns in Hodgenville and they came to Mason county in 1906. Since the d
ea th of his wife in 1932, Mr. Skaggs has made his home with his child
re n. He was a member of the Mason City Christian church. Surviving are t
hr ee sons, Homer, Petersburg; Moses, Rockford; Fred, Pekin; two daughter
s, M rs. Ella Jones and Mrs. Nora Reeder, both of Rockford; a sister, Mr
s. Flor ence DeSpain, Springfield, and three brothers, Edward, Frank and W
illia m, all of Greene county, Kentucky, 13 grandchildren and two great-gr
andchi ldren.
