Griselda Jane was born on January 23rd, 1800 in Green Co., Kentucky.1 Griselda Jane's father was James Skaggs and her mother was Anna McColgen. Her paternal grandfather was Henry Skaggs and her paternal grandmother is Mary Thompson. She had five brothers and two sisters, named John T., William M., Joel, Drury Thomas, Samuel H., Martha and Lucy. She was the fourth oldest of the eight children.
