Charley Cleaven was born on August 3rd, 1919 in Kentucky.1 Charley Cleaven's father was Edward McClain Skaggs and his mother was Zilpha O. Warren. His paternal grandparents were Lewis Young Skaggs and Mary Susan Thompson; his maternal grandparents were Richard Archie Warren and Malinda A. DeSpain. He had six brothers and four sisters, named Herman Ray, Turl Ross, Garrett Mitchell, Ralph Gaeden, Richard Lewis, Otis Bernie, Bertha Margaret, Nellie Althia, Nettie Viola and Ethel Alice.
