Perpiatuie was born on April 5th, 1877 in North Carolina.1 Perpiatuie's father is Shadrach Shelton and her mother was Margaret Ansabelle Sams. Her maternal grandfather was Ezekiel G. Sams and her maternal grandmother is Mary Ann Pollie Johnson. She had two brothers and eight sisters, named Grace H., Alonzo Cansada, Marcella, Triphenia, Martha C., Claudia Belle, Tenny C., Sophina, Mary and Minnie B. Ben. She was the third oldest of the eleven children. She died at the age of 81 on July 26th, 1958 in North Carolina.1 General Notes
