John Wilks was born on February 2nd, 1857 in WARREN COUNTY, KY.1 John Wilks' father was George Pearson Sharer and his mother was Lucinda Hurd Cherry. His paternal grandparents were Jacob Sharer and Elizabeth G Wilks; his maternal grandparents were William Cherry and Frances Taylor. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Joseph Ervin, Bailey Eugene, Mary Frances and Leora V. He was the second oldest of the five children. He died at the age of 85 on September 7th, 1942 in ATLANTA, CASS COUNTY, TX.1 General Notes
