Hiram was born on February 14th, 1877 in Knott Co., Kentucky.1 Hiram's father was Gabriel Ritchie and his mother was Mary Fugate. His paternal grandfather was James Monroe Ritchie and his paternal grandmother is Hannah Fugate. He had seven brothers named Brice, Isaac, Levi, C. C., Crockett, Martin and Isom. He was the fourth youngest of the eight children. He died at the age of 78 on May 26th, 1955 in Perry Co., Kentucky. He was buried in Ritchie Cemetery, Talcum, Knott Co., Kentucky.1 1 General Notes
