Elizabeth Thomas was born in 1851 in Alabama.1 Elizabeth Thomas' father was Calvin A. Redus and her mother was Sarah Elizabeth Grigsby. Her maternal grandparents were James Grigsby and Margaret Martindale. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Willie A., Walter Pitt, James Calvin, Margaret Laura and Ada Grigsby.
