62 1. In 1652, he was a member of the council. He was commissioner of El
iza beth City County in 1626, and was burgess of the lower part of Elizabe
th C ity County 1629-1630. He was a member of the King's Council in 163
1, a nd principal commander of Elizabeth City County in 1629. In 1635, t
he mut iny in Virginia was reported by this same Captain Purifoy.
