Reuben T. was born in 1865 in Taylor Co., Kentucky.1   Reuben T.'s father is John Pierce and his mother is Cynthia Underwood.  His maternal grandfather was Abraham Hiram Underwood and his maternal grandmother is Mary Roark. He had three brothers and four sisters, named William Monroe, James H., John L., Mahala B., Mary Jane, Nancy J. and Lucetta T..  He is the second youngest of the eight children.
