Francis Marion was born on July 31st, 1823 in Green Co., Kentucky.1 Francis Marion's father is James Pierce and his mother was Elizabeth Skaggs. His maternal grandparents were William Skaggs and Mary Simpson. He had five brothers and four sisters, named William, William, John, George Washington, Milton Paradise, Polly, Nancy, Lydia and Sally Ann. He is the second youngest of the ten children.General Notes
