James Payne 
James was born on March 4th, 1819 in Virginia.1 James' father was Jubal Payne and his mother was Rhoady Basham. His maternal grandparents were William Basham and Sarah Sally Shrewsbury. He had seven brothers and seven sisters, named Dudley H., Richard H., William B., Simeon, Jubal, Jr., Joel, John W., Nancy, Margaret, Agnes, Eliza Jane, Mary D., Sely and Martha. He is the sixth oldest of the fifteen children.-
