Barton was born on April 14th, 1799 in Monongalia Co., West Virginia.1 Barton's father was Levi Morris and his mother was Elizabeth Snider. His maternal grandparents were Rudoph Snider and Mary Elizabeth Morgan. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Noah, Clark, David, Prudence and Elizabeth.
