Sarah L was born in 1865 in BUTLER COUNTY, KY.1 Sarah L's father was James Goodson Maxey and her mother was Prudence Thornton. Her paternal grandparents were Edward Maxey and Judy White. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Jasper Mortimer, James Edward, Preston, Richard E, Lucy A and Mary A. She was the third youngest of the seven children.
