James Ray Marbut 
James Ray was born on August 24th, 1906 in Covington, Hill Co., Texas.1 James Ray's father was James Wesley Marbut and his mother was Effie Mae Pendergraft. His paternal grandparents were Phillip Henry Marbut and Martha Ann Bassham. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Ollie Bell, Joe Roy, John Drue, Faye Elizabeth, Artie Mae and Ruby Jeanette. He was the third oldest of the seven children. He died at the age of 61 on September 29th, 1967 in Cleburne, Johnson Co., Texas.1 General Notes
