Inez and Huie met when he was an itinerant salesman and school teach
er ne ar Wichits Falls, Texas, where she grew up. After marrying in 192
3, th ey soon moved to Abilene, Texas, where Huie was a salesman, becomi
ng own er of a car dealership and real estate. The couple had two childre
n, Hui e, Jr. (b. 1924, Carey, Texas) and Etta (b. 1927, Abilene, Texas
), and res ided for most of their lives on Sayles Boulevard. The Lambs we
re well-kno wm Abilenians as long-time citizens, business people, and owne
r-operato rs of Indian Creek Ranch in Tye for over 30 years. They are rem
embered wi th admiration for their dedication to Abilene youth. Inez a
nd Huie lea ve a legacy of good works and wonderful memories in the many l
ives they to uched. The Lambs are buried at Elmwood Memorial Park in Abil
ene, with a b eautiful headstone depicting a man on horseback and a wom
an on horseback r iding toward each other.
