Sibyl Ruth was born on June 24th, 1904 in Eastland Co., Near Okra, Texas.1 Sibyl Ruth's father was John Bascom Johnson and her mother was Alice Clementine (Tiny) Basham. Her paternal grandparents are Jefferson Roman Johnson and Mary Jane Pearce; her maternal grandparents were Joseph P. Basham and Mary Jane Morris. She had seven brothers and six sisters, named Joseph Jolette, O. A. Montgomery, Fredrick Clinton, Thomas Alvin, J. C., Dossie, Living, Velma Velette, Runney Lenis, Iola Lucille, Baby (Twin), Living and Living. She died at the age of 91 on September 18th, 1995 in Valley View Care Center, Eastland, Eastland Co., Texas. She was buried on September 19th, 1995 in Murray Cemetery, Eastland Co., Texas.1 1 General Notes
