Layfayette Hughes

Layfayette was born in 1836 in Virginia.¹ Layfayette's father is Alexander Hughes and his mother is Sarah Underwood. His paternal grandparents were Edward Hughes and Nancy Foster; his maternal grandparents are James Underwood and Sarah Thompson. He has two brothers and seven sisters, named Thomas, Martin V., Sarah Elizabeth, Rebecca, Adeline, Virginia Jane, Maryette, Gesmette and Sarah. He is the fifth oldest of the ten children.
