19 61 some three miles out of Weser toward Weesatche is where Mr. and Mr
s. Ot to Franke live. Their home is right on top of a hill. MeMe and I dro
pped i nto see how this fine couple were doing. Mr. Franke was restin
g; he has ab out 84 years behind him and deserves to lay back and forget a
bout work. L ike always Mrs. Franke put the coffee to warming and s
at us at the tabl e. Of course we stayed for dinner. Had some of her go
od homemade light bre ad and finished up with oatmeal and molasses cookie
s. Mr. Otto and his wi fe have a girl who lives in Victoria. Named Mr. Au
g. Krueger; but everybl dy calls her Robbie Nell. The Frankes dearly lo
ve company and don't make a ny bones about. Just take you into the home a
nd get to visiting. The thi ng I remember about Prestons Grandparen
ts is for two people to be so th in they always set a table until it moun
ed with the weight of the food. S he was very proud of her stuffed cabba
ge and was disapointed went I wou ld not try any. Could not understand h
ow any one could not love cabbage. S he would always serve around 4 in t
he afternoon "Lunch" . I was a meal b ut she consideredit just a tie you o
ver until supper later in the day.
