Mary Jane was born on December 13th, 1856 in Barren Co., Kentucky.1 Mary Jane's father was William Hall and her mother was Louisa (Eliza) Dickerson. Her paternal grandparents were John Coffey Hall and Catherin Bishop Stockton; her maternal grandparents were William Dickerson and Catherine Unknown. She had six brothers and three sisters, named John, William, Andrew James, Palmer, America, Bobbie, Margaret (Mary), Dillie Ann and Emma C.. She was the fifth oldest of the ten children.
