John Curtis was born on January 1st, 1834 in Princeton, Jackson Co., Alabama.1   John Curtis' father was Jesse Abner,Rev. Graham and his mother was Martha Jane Fannin.  His paternal grandparents were John Graham and Mary Emmaline Pennington. He had eight brothers and four sisters, named Isaac Jackson, Curtis Beason, Ozias Denton,Dr., William Franklin Smith, Jesse Abner,Jr., Benjamin Franklin, James Monroe, Michael, Sarah Ememline, Martha Jane, Hulda Ann and Mary Ellen.  He was the fourth oldest of the thirteen children.  He died at the age of 77 in 1911 in Blackburn, Washington Co., Arkansas.1
