John Linder Gowen 
John Linder was born in November 1890 in Colorado City, Texas.1 John Linder's father was John Steel Gowen and his mother was Maria Jane Johnston. His maternal grandparents were William E. Johnston and Elizabeth Miles Allen. He had two brothers and five sisters, named Eddie Steel, Jesse Eugene, May Bell, Marie L., Mattie, Irene Redden and Florence Adella. He was the fourth oldest of the eight children. He died at the age of 19 on October 9th, 1910 in Houston, Harris Co., Texas.1 General Notes
