Mary Alice was born in 1872 in Cherokee Co., Kansas.1 Mary Alice's father was John H. Gilliland and her mother was Margaret Snider. Her maternal grandparents were John Snider and Mary Blount. She had six brothers and five sisters, named Thomas David, Charles Henry, James Hughes, Robert Hamilton, Guy G., Amos Franklin, Lillie May, Elizabeth Margaret, Julia Ann, Eliza Ellen and Nellie Rose. She was the fourth oldest of the twelve children. She died at the age of 70 in 1942 in Kay Co., Oklahoma.1 General Notes
