Olen Brantley Gause 
Olen Brantley was born on March 27th, 1868 in Brunswick County, NC.1 Olen Brantley's father was Emory Purefoy Gause and his mother was Caroline Narcissa Gardner. His paternal grandparents were William Bacot Gause and Piercy Peurifoy; his maternal grandparents were John Gardner and Emeline "Emily" Beall. He had four brothers and six sisters, named Robert Emory, John William, Henry Clay, James T., Lenora Alethea, Mary, Martha Vorena, Frances, Josephine and Isabelle. His death certificate states that he died from cardiac dilitation. It f
ur ther states that he died in Henderson County, TX and that he had l
iv ed in Henderson County for the past 43 years. He died at the a
ge of 69 ye ars. Occupation stated on death certificate is that of a farm
er.
The story that his great-grandson, Paul Gause, says that he heard fr
om h is grandmother, Lola Jewell Martin Gause, is that Oland worked as a p
ris on warden and that he ran his household like he did his prison
er s. It is reported that Robert Lloyd left home at the age of 16.
