Benjamin Lewis was born on September 1st, 1872 in Green Co., Kentucky.1 Benjamin Lewis' father was William Lewis DeSpain and his mother was Elizabeth Ann Scott. His paternal grandparents were Silas DeSpain and Abigail Edwards. He had four brothers and four sisters, named William Thomas, George Franklin, James Edward, Alexander, Mary Susan, Catherine Ann, Lillie Jane and Ida Leann. He was the second youngest of the nine children. He died at the age of 86 on December 11th, 1958 in Green Co., Kentucky. He was buried in Bennett Cemetery, Green Co., Kentucky.1 1 General Notes
