Cleveland was born on August 30th, 1924 in Edgewood, Van Zandt Co., Texas.1 Cleveland's father was Grover Cleveland Counts and his mother was Sarah Gertrude (Gertie) Pearson. His paternal grandparents were Hasten Alexander Counts and Henrietta Virginia McAdams. He had six brothers and eight sisters, named Cleveland, G. C., Ike McA, Rainey Howl, Living, Living, Henrietta Marie, Living, Living, Living, Living, Living, Living and Living.
