Ruth was born on December 26th, 1869 in McLeansboro, Hamilton Co., Illinois.1 Ruth's father was James Madison Campbell and her mother was Elizabeth Eleanor Mitchell. Her paternal grandparents were John, Jr. Campbell and Martha Ann Wheeler. She had five brothers and a sister, named Leonidas, Harry, Frank, Fred, Marshall and Annie. She was the fourth oldest of the seven children. She died at the age of 73 on December 23rd, 1943 in McLeansboro, Hamilton Co., Illinois.
