James Madison was born on December 8th, 1838 in McLeansboro, Hamilton Co., Illinois.1 James Madison's father was John, Jr. Campbell and his mother was Martha Ann Wheeler. His paternal grandparents were John Campbell and Eleanor Denton; his maternal grandfather is Unknown Wheeler. He had eight brothers and six sisters, named William Humes, Joseph F., Alfred W., John D., Columbus C., Yanez L., Alonzo, Johnson Hill, Sarah E., Lucy A., Mary E., Isavilla, Emma and Jerusha C.. He was the sixth oldest of the fifteen children. He died at the age of 71 on April 9th, 1910 in McLeansboro, Hamilton Co., Illinois.
