William Hammond Bouldin 
William Hammond was born on June 12th, 1876 in Washington Co., Texas.1 William Hammond's father was Thomas Graves Bouldin and his mother is Sallie Frances Woods. His paternal grandparents were Hammond Bouldin and Martha Jane Bouldin. He had five brothers and two sisters, named Arthur Alvin, Paul Wesley, Roy Wilburn, Edgar Eugene, Thomas Green, Beaula Inez and Jennie Boyd. He was the second oldest of the eight children. William Hammond attended the Brenham Public Schools , Blinn College a
nd Ge rman-American Institute. He received his Teachers Certificate in 1
90 3. He read for the Law and was admitted to the Bar, practicing in partn
ers hip with Mr. W. C. Henderson in Brenham. He taught school at Guion Sch
oo l, near Lawn, Texas, in 1904and 1905. After moving to Brenham and pract
ici ng law for about ten years, he was elected as District Cleark in 1
91 4. He held that office until 1920 when he was elected County Attor
ne y. He ran unsucessfull for County Judge in 1934 and returned to priva
te wi th former Judge A. W. Hodde until his death in 1938.
