Solomon J. was born on October 13th, 1848 in Tennessee.1 Solomon J.'s father was Thomas Archibald Bassham and his mother was Elizabeth Ann Griffin. His paternal grandparents were Richard Basham and Pheebee Pinnicuff; his maternal grandfather was David Griffin and his maternal grandmother is Sarah Unknown. He had four sisters named Matilda Jane, Emily A., Mandy Lucrecy and Mary Malisia. He was the third oldest of the five children. He had a half-brother and three half-sisters, named George Washington, Malinda Rolanda, Nancy Allen and Sarah Olleth. He died about July 1872 in Hopkins Co., Texas.1 General Notes
