Roscoe Leon was born on November 12th, 1900 in Bonham, Fannin Co., Texas.1 Roscoe Leon's father was William Palestine (Bill) Bassham and his mother was Ida Mae Vansickle. His paternal grandparents were Francis Marion (Frank) Bassham and Louisa Lucretia (Lucy) Popnoe. He had four brothers and a sister, named Kenneth James, Byron Demont (Dee), Shelton Cleo (Shelly), William Nelson and Buena Vista. He was the third oldest of the six children. He died at the age of 65 on January 6th, 1966 in Colorado City, Mitchell Co., Texas.1 General Notes
