Ralph Whitfield was born on October 23rd, 1913 in Bryan Co., Oklahoma.1 Ralph Whitfield's father was Henry Lansford Bassham and his mother was Fannie 'Ida' Pettitt. His paternal grandparents were Francis Marion (Frank) Bassham and Louisa Lucretia (Lucy) Popnoe. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Eugene Malcom (Gene), Jack Foster, Laudis, Willie Belle, Stella Mae and Mary Alice. He is the youngest of the seven children.General Notes
