Matilda Jane Bassham 
Matilda Jane was born on July 30th, 1844 in Lawrence Co., Tennessee.1 Matilda Jane's father was Thomas Archibald Bassham and her mother was Elizabeth Ann Griffin. Her paternal grandparents were Richard Basham and Pheebee Pinnicuff; her maternal grandfather was David Griffin and her maternal grandmother is Sarah Unknown. She had a brother and three sisters, named Solomon J., Emily A., Mandy Lucrecy and Mary Malisia. She was the oldest of the five children. She had a half-brother and three half-sisters, named George Washington, Malinda Rolanda, Nancy Allen and Sarah Olleth. She died at the age of 51 on October 23rd, 1895 in Lawrence Co., Tennessee.1 General Notes
