Elmer 'Clyde' was born on September 10th, 1904 in Fannin Co., Texas.1 Elmer 'Clyde''s father was Sam Estes Bassham and his mother was Phebe Bartlett. His paternal grandparents were Francis Marion (Frank) Bassham and Louisa Lucretia (Lucy) Popnoe. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Luther Ray, Cecile Gertrude, Loraine, Ethel S. E., Rosie 'Lucille' (Sister), Ruby Pearl and Jewel Marie. He was the second oldest of the eight children. He died at the age of 73 on March 29th, 1978 in Colorado City, Mitchell Co., Texas.1 General Notes
