William Brett Basham 
William Brett was born on July 18th, 1899 in Richardville, Warren Co., Kentucky.1 William Brett's father was Bartlett W Basham and his mother was Myrtie Lee Richards. His paternal grandparents were Hiram Simmons Basham and Paradine Taylor. He had a brother and four sisters, named Joyce McCabe, Elsie Rhea, Myra Bruce, Ruby Eloise and Novice Murlene (Noonie). He was the third oldest of the six children. He died at the age of 67 on March 19th, 1967 in Bowling Green, Warren Co., Ky.1 General Notes

WILLIAM BRETT BASHAM, born 18 Jul 1899-died 19 Mar 1967, was the s
on of B artlett Washington Basham and Lee Merta (Richards) Basham. He w
as raised a nd attended schools at Richardsville Kentucky; Bowling Green B
usiness Univ ersity; and Purdue University. He was married to the former B
eatrice Lee C ampbell on 2 April 1920, a native of Bowling Green, Kentuck
y. Following th eir marriage, they moved to Detroit, Michigan. He took a j
ob as an account ant for Ford Motor Company, but shortly after, he decid
ed to move ba ck to the farm. He farmed on his father's land at Richardsvi
lle, Kentuck y. One year later he decided to move to Bowling Green, Kentuc
ky, and g ot a job at the Bowling Green Fire Department, 1 August 1922.
On 1 January 1931, he was promoted to Captain and then was elevat
ed to as sistant chief in 1938. He served in that capacity until 1 Jul 194
4, wh en he was promoted to chief. He served as president of the Kentuc
ky Firear ms Association, Inc. until 1948. He and his wife bought a farm w
ith the ir twin sons, Larry and Harry Basham. He retired from the Bowli
ng Green Fi re Department on 1 Jun 1963 and moved to their farm at Rockfie
ld, Kentuck y, Route 1, J B Ranch Road. He was an avid antique gun enthusi
ast and al so like to build inboard motor boats with his brother Joyce McC
abe Basha m.
He had seven children--three boys and four girls: 1. Helen Juanita Ba
sh am (Hammond); 2. Raymond Morris Basham; 3. Martha Christine Basham (Cam
pbe ll, Marti); 4. Margaret Jane Basham (Elrod, Nickols); 5. Charlotte A
nn Bas ham (Hudson); 6. Larry and 7. Harry Basham (twins). He had twelve g
randchi ldren, twenty great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchil
