Nellie Rose was born on October 1st, 1903 in Ellison Ridge, Summers Co., W Va.1 Nellie Rose's father was Robert Hugh Basham and her mother was Sarah Malinda Hatcher. Her paternal grandparents were William Blane Basham and Juliana Lydia Lilly; her maternal grandparents were John Edmund Charles Lewis Hatcher and Eliza Lilly. She had nine brothers and five sisters, named Gracie May, Gilbert Ezra, Charles William, George Wesley (Twin), James Herford (Twin), Michael Fenton, Joseph Dale, Luther Bee, Sarah Marie, Bertha Lee, Clara Bell, Elizabeth Lillian, Ruby Pearl and Edith Garnet. She was the eighth oldest of the fifteen children. She had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Roy Lesley and Ada Ethyl. She died at the age of 63 on March 13th, 1967 in Columbus, Franklin Co., Ohio. She was buried in Greenlawn Cem., Columbus, Ohio.1 1 General Notes
