Myron (Toy) Basham 
Myron (Toy) was born on April 25th, 1908 in Grandview, Johnson Co., Texas.1 Myron (Toy)'s father was Virgil Nathan Basham and his mother was Sarah Ellen Kirkland. His paternal grandparents were Beuford B. Basham and Mary Jane Hall; his maternal grandparents were Robert Francis Kirkland and Frances (Fannie) Smith. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Infant Son, Infant Son, Kermit, Ernest Virgil, Cleatus Mae, Vera Nell and Jewel. He was the fourth oldest of the eight children. He died at the age of 57 on December 19th, 1965 in Cleburne, Johnson Co., Texas.1 General Notes

Myron (Toy) Basham, 57, of Grandview, died Sunday afternoon at Clebur
ne M emorial Hospital in Cleburne after being in a coma for seven wee
ks d ue to encephalomyelitis (type unknown). He was born April 25, 19
08 in Gran dview, Johnson County, Texas, the son of Virgil Nathan and Sar
ah (Kirklan d) Basham.
Toy's mother died when he was eleven years old. Being the olde
st so n, he had to drop out of school at the end of the seventh grade to h
elp h is father with the farming and care of his brothers and sister
s. He marri ed Chastyne Williams when he was twenty years of age and rais
ed three chil dren in the Grandview area. He worked at the McDuff Cotton G
in before h is marriage. He was a dedicated farmer the rest of his life ra
ising cott on and corn, taking great pride in his land being extremely cle
an and fr ee of grass with all his rows "straight as an arrow".
He was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church in Grandview, T
ex as where he served as Church Deacon for thirty years, Church Sunday Sc
ho ol Superintendent for ten years and was currently a Sunday School Tea
ch er of a class of Junior Boys (9 through 13 years) which he had taug
ht f or 20 years. At the time of his death, the new church building had ju
st be en completed of which he served as Finance Chairman. He was acti
ve in t he community serving as a board member for the Linity, Lee Summi
