Mertie Melissa Basham 
Mertie Melissa was born on January 2nd, 1899 in Ellison Ridge, Summers Co., W Va.1 Mertie Melissa's father was Isaac Edmond Basham and her mother was Malinda Elizabeth Harvey. Her paternal grandparents were William Blane Basham and Juliana Lydia Lilly; her maternal grandparents were Jonathan Calvin Harvey and Mary Elizabeth Unknown. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Luther Calvin, William Arthur, Monnie Beatrice, Anna Belle, Mary Etta, Charlotte Elizabeth and Macy Lee. She was the fourth oldest of the eight children. She had two half-sisters named Dolly Faye (Twin) and Willie May (Twin). She died at the age of 69 on December 29th, 1968.1 General Notes
