Martin Van Buren was born on June 15th, 1863 in Pennington, Ripley Co., Indiana.1 Martin Van Buren's father was Thomas Anderson Basham and his mother was Rachel Louthan. His paternal grandparents were John Basham and Mary (Polly) Martin. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Frank E., George Gilbert, Louis Edmond, John, Amanda Alice, Martha Ellen and Mary (Polly).
