Martha Lou (Mattie) was born on December 9th, 1869 in Union Star, Breckenridge Co., Ky.1 Martha Lou (Mattie)'s father was Obediah Peyton Basham and her mother was Maria Frances Watlington. Her paternal grandparents were Henry Dowell Basham and Cassandra Hardin. She had seven brothers and three sisters, named Earl Wallace, Oral Peyton, Charles Henry (Twin), Ceil Duncan, Ermine (Twin), Erwin (Twin), Nathaniel Reid, Cleona Blanche, Judith Ellen (Nel) and Mary Dowell (Twin) (Dot). She was the oldest of the eleven children. She died at the age of 1 on July 26th, 1871 in Union Star, Breckenridge Co., Ky.1 General Notes
